Desiring Truth — Why It Exists and Why It Matters

Most people don’t wake up one morning and decide to reject truth. They drift from it. Slowly. Quietly. Almost unnoticed.
I know, because I’ve watched it happen for decades — in families, in churches, and in individuals who once seemed grounded and certain. And I also know something else: beneath all the noise, confusion, and distraction of this world, there is a deep hunger in the human heart for meaning, purpose, and truth.

That hunger is not accidental. It was placed there by God.

When I was thirteen or fourteen years old, I didn’t have theological language for it, but I felt it. I remember wondering why I was here on this planet. What was the purpose of my life? What was the purpose of anyone’s life? I looked around at people living, working, aging, and dying — and I couldn’t understand what it was all for.

When those thoughts became overwhelming, I would go back into the woods near our home. There was a hill overlooking a spring, and I would sit there alone. I would talk to God — even though I didn’t yet know Him. I didn’t know His Word. I didn’t understand salvation. But I knew Someone had to be there, and I wanted answers.

That was the beginning of my search for truth.

As I grew older, I did what many people do. I searched in books, pamphlets, and tracts. I read what others had written about life, purpose, and meaning. Some of it sounded intelligent. Some of it sounded comforting. But none of it satisfied the questions that wouldn’t go away.

I didn’t know it at the time, but what I was discovering is what Scripture has always said:

“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:7, JEN)

Information is not truth. Opinions are not truth. Even sincerity is not truth.

Truth is something far more solid — and far more demanding.

When I was seventeen years old, I came across a small booklet by Billy Graham. It didn’t offer philosophy. It didn’t speculate. It simply laid out three biblical truths.

First, it told me I was a sinner — separated from God. I knew that I had been sinning, butI did not know what to do about my sin and sins.
Second, it told me that Jesus Christ is God who became a man, lived without sin, died on the cross to pay the penalty for sin, was buried, and rose again on the third day. I knew that but it was all head knowledge. I have not trusted His death, burial, and resurrection.
Third, it told me that salvation was not achieved by being good, being baptized, or going to church — as good as those things are — but only by faith.

“For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8–9, JEN)

When I read that, I knew it was true. Not emotionally — spiritually. Something deep within me recognized it as truth. I now understand that it was the Holy Spirit bearing witness to the Word.
But then came another realization: if this was true, it meant my life would have to change. It meant repentance. It meant turning away from sin. And at that moment, I didn’t want to.
So I walked away — not because the truth wasn’t clear, but because it was.
That decision didn’t bring peace. It brought distance. I graduated from high school, joined the Army, and tried to move on. But truth has a way of following you. It doesn’t shout. It waits.
While stationed in Hawaii, far from home and familiar voices, the truth I once read returned with clarity and weight. And this time, I didn’t resist it. I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I trusted Him. I believed His Word. And from that moment on, everything changed.
I didn’t stop searching for truth — but now I was searching within truth, not apart from it.
That experience shaped the rest of my life and ministry. And over the years, one thing has become unmistakably clear: we are living in a culture that has lost its grip on truth.

We are told truth is personal. Truth is flexible. Truth is whatever feels right. But Scripture says something very different:

“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17:17, JEN)

The problem we face today is not a lack of information. It is a lack of biblical understanding. People are overwhelmed by voices — social media, news, opinions, trends — yet they are starving for truth that actually explains life.

Even within the church, many believers are spiritually malnourished. They hear Scripture referenced, but rarely explained. They are encouraged emotionally, but not grounded doctrinally. And when trials come, they discover they were standing on feelings instead of truth.
That is the problem Desiring Truth exists to address.
Desiring Truth is a teaching ministry built on a simple conviction: truth matters — because God matters. And truth must be known, understood, and lived if we are going to stand firm in a confused world.
Jesus said,
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32, JEN)
But freedom doesn’t come from hearing truth occasionally. It comes from being rooted in it.
Through Desiring Truth, I teach the Bible carefully, reverently, and thoroughly — drawing from the original languages, historical context, and the full counsel of Scripture. This ministry exists to help people think biblically, live faithfully, and grow spiritually.
When you join Desiring Truth, you receive a monthly printed newsletter delivered to your home — not fleeting content that disappears with a swipe, but something tangible you can read, study, and revisit. Each issue contains biblical teaching, theological clarity, and practical application designed to strengthen your faith.
You also receive weekly email devotionals — concise, Scripture-centered reflections that speak directly to the realities of everyday life. These are not motivational slogans. They are truths meant to renew the mind and anchor the heart.
But Desiring Truth is more than content. It is a mission.
It exists because of my desire for truth. It exists because Jesus Christ is truth. It exists because truth is being abandoned — and because souls are being affected by that abandonment. Families fracture when truth is ignored. Churches weaken when doctrine is neglected. Believers drift when they are not taught how to discern.
Supporting Desiring Truth monthly is not simply supporting a newsletter. It is partnering in a work that:
  • Brings solid biblical teaching into homes
  • Equips believers to stand firm in their faith
  • Reaches seekers who are quietly asking the same questions I once asked
  • Defends Scripture in an age of compromise
  • Preserves truth for the next generation
The solution to confusion is not louder opinions. The solution to darkness is not better feelings. The solution is truth — clearly taught, faithfully lived, and courageously proclaimed.
That is what Desiring Truth exists to do.
If you are weary of shallow answers, if you sense that something is missing in modern Christianity, if you long for clarity in a world that has lost it — then I invite you to join us.

Because truth does not advance by accident. It advances when people believe it matters.

And it does.

That is the heart of Desiring Truth. And I invite you to be part of it.

A Personal Appeal — Why Your Support Matters
Let me speak to you plainly.
Truth does not spread on its own. It must be taught. It must be defended. And it must be passed on intentionally — especially in a generation that is being trained to doubt it.
Everything you read through Desiring Truth — every article, every study, every devotional, every printed newsletter — takes time, prayer, study, and resources. Printing costs money. Mailing costs money. Research, writing, teaching, and distribution all require faithful support.
I am committed to teaching the truth of God’s Word whether it is popular or not. I will not dilute it. I will not replace it with trends. And I will not abandon it for convenience. But I cannot do this alone.
When you choose to support Desiring Truthon a monthly basis, you are doing far more than giving financially. You are standing with truth in a culture that is turning away from it. You are helping place solid biblical teaching into homes where confusion has taken root. You are helping believers grow strong instead of drifting. And you are helping seekers — some just like I once was — finally find answers that satisfy the soul.
Scripture says,

“How shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14, JEN)

Your monthly support makes that possible.

Some will read the newsletter and be grounded for the first time.
Some will read a devotional at the exact moment they are questioning their faith.
Some will discover that truth is not harsh — it is life-giving.

And some will come to Christ.

If Desiring Truth has helped you, strengthened you, clarified Scripture for you, or stirred your hunger for God’s Word — I ask you to prayerfully consider becoming a monthly supporter.

Not because we are desperate — but because the mission is urgent.

Truth is being challenged every day.
Confusion is being normalized.
And silence is not an option.

Jesus said,

“Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” (John 18:37, JEN)

If you hear that voice — if you value truth — then stand with us.

Why Monthly Support Matters

One-time gifts help.
Monthly partners sustain the work.

Monthly support allows planning, printing, scheduling, and teaching to continue faithfully and consistently. It removes uncertainty and replaces it with stability — so the focus stays on Scripture, not survival.

“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
(1 Corinthians 4:2, JEN)

That is the spirit behind every level of partnership.

A Final Word From My Heart

Truth is under attack — quietly, steadily, and persistently.
It doesn’t disappear overnight. It fades when it is neglected.

By becoming a monthly partner, you are saying:
Truth matters enough to support.
Truth matters enough to preserve.
Truth matters enough to pass on.

If Desiring Truth has helped you grow, think clearly, or stand firm, I invite you to stand with us.
